This energy extends to a small northern town, where a circus has arrived this year. One of the performers is said to be a local.

On a morning just before the grand opening, a horrific murder occurred within the circus. The victim was Charles Dubois, a British man of French descent who performed as the circus clown. He was found in the shower wagon, killed by a single knife plunge through his back to the heart. The body was discovered by a female trapeze artist.
